Lavender Silkie-Question

Where is that you get the lavender from? Is it the splash & blacks that can carry it?

To be lavender the bird has to receive a copy of the lavender gene from the father and one from the mother.

Other colors can carry a copy of the lavender gene if one of their parents was lavender but two copies of the lavender gene are needed to have lavender.

And it does not come from blue or splash birds, although a bird can be both blue or splash AND lavender. It is an entirely different gene that must be introduced from a bird who carries it.
