Just a general questions, I was wondering at what age does quail stop eggs? For instance a chicken little stop laying eggs at 4 to5 years old.

Hard question----some hens still lay older than that, some sex-links lay out a lot sooner than 4 or 5?
Different breeds of quail live longer than others so they probably a difference in how old they are when they stop. Maybe some serious quail raisers will respond.

When I had Coturnix, most of the hens had seriously slowed down production by two years old or so. It's going to vary with their breed, environment and sometimes the individual.

All my current adults were born around Feb/March of last year, and they are all still laying fertile eggs. Who knows how long that will go. But both my ladies and guys are still fertile at a year and a half.

Yes, at the 2 year mark, start hatching a new batch of future layers. Then slaughter the existing layers when the new batch reaches 8 weeks.

That's the way. An old layer eats as much as a young layer but gives you with 30% - 50% fewer eggs? No freeloaders on my watch. If you want to eat, you work!

Texas A &M. But quail in general. I have bobwhite and Texas a&m
