I'm a little confused... I just started incubating -- on my 3rd batch. I have never heard of "cooling". I try to only lift my lid on candling days... everything I had read says not to let the temperature fluctuate. What am I missing?

These are duck eggs and I'm following the reccomendations of my incubator for duck and goose to cool from day 10 until lock down :)
.

Movement in all eggs today. I am very worried about a few of the eggs though. One or two with very big saddled air cells and one that has looked off from the start, the air cell is detached and something just seems murky on the inside. There is a dead brown vein that is in the air cell as it has receeded. But inside I see movement. I wish I was more experienced so I knew what to do. Only 3 out of the 10 have the problems so I don't know how to manage that.

If you can get some candling pics, we may be able to help access what is going on.

OK I will post pics tomorrow, I don't see how I can adjust things for the minority of the others are OK? Like for instance increasing humidity for the ones whose air cells are too large.

You will either have to pick the majority, or whichever eggs are more important. I've seen people try to make dividers with more sponges on one side, and other such adjustments, but not sure it ever works.

Yes

Yes I agree, I don't think I will when I am happy with 7 of 10. I will be surprised if the murky one makes it to lockdown, I worry about if it's bacteria in it or something. The two with huge aircells I expect not to be able to hatch but we'll see.

Hi,

I was cooling my day 13 Cayuga eggs today. I'd had a horrid day after a few sleepless nights with sick kids.

I forgot and left it off for a bit over an hour.

My incubator takes less that five minutes to get up to temp and humidity.

Will this be disasterous? I'm freaking out a bit :'(
So?

Not sure what you mean sorry? If you are asking how they are today, as above they are all moving and seem fine :woot

If you mean so as in 'so what' well not sure how to answer

Not sure what 'Benny' (Akarnaf2) meant, but he is one of the 'good guys'. It's wrong to speak for someone else, but doubt that he meant 'so what'. Glad that things are looking good for most of the eggs.
