Leghorns -19 weeks to first eggs

Guineas are LOUD! Beautiful birds!
Which kind you looking to get?
Pigs will love the protein.

I need to figure some signal to get them back. Hmm
I want about 6 of the standard Gray Pearl ones. My real desire was for the Vulturine, but no way I would free range a 400 dollar bird, and no way I'm building a freakin avairy/conservatory for those things. I'll wait for the market to crash on those especially since hatcheries are selling them now.

And if they get annoying I am pretty sure they are edible.

Ok, my wife and I agree no frigging way we are getting guineas after a few youtube videos having our morning coffee. The videos were on why they are so annoying. Believe it or not that lovely to look at Vulturine guinea was worse to listen to than normal guineas. The idea of having watch birds was nice but after 10 minutes of youtube exposure..........totally not going to happen. I guess the pig can wait a little bit longer while I wait for comb, saddle and spur development on my own "Backyard Bachelor" show. Today everyone is getting a rose.

Get a plastic container with a red lid.
Put some seeds in it and shake it.
They will learn that that jar and that sound means treats.
Throw some treats into the coop.
The girls will follow.

Unless the Guineas go very far, you will always know where they are. They call, while not constantly, pretty durn often. Nice if they are down the road. Raucous if you are beside them. I wonder how many decibels they put out? 200? LOUD!

Red lid. Got it. I figured they would flock around me. Nope, I was ignored while they were foraging. Poor deprived girls! Went from the house to the side fence. The dogs were not happy.

You can't upload videos or files like that here YET.
You will need to upload it to YOuTube first then link it here.

such a shame well the giant cicada thing can wait and you guys in Houston have probably heard them before. in 2007/2008 they had even had a San Antonio hatch out or migration. Some years Laredo and the Texas Hill country can get them too.
