Offer it in the water, of course, but try to get more of it in her. If she were mine I would give her .5ml of the liquid, and I'd make a batch at the .24% level, mix that with baby bird food and tube. Treating the rest of the flock is fine, it won't hurt them and there is no withdrawal on eggs. You can get Baytril for *much* cheaper than $100, try doing a search for enfloxil, it's the generic that's made in Mexico, should be about $20 for 25ml.

The doses my vets have told me to use are:

• 10mg/kg twice a day for five days
• 15mg/kg once a day for five days
• 20mg/kg once a day for five days

It just doesn't look like coccidia poo to me. Honestly, it looks like gastroenteritis. I hate to say spirochetes without looking at a fecal sample. Is she on probiotics?

I agree, it doesn't look like any coccidiosis poop I've seen, but it does look like some that have responded to Baytril or Clavamox. I know nothing about spirochetes, how is that treated?

She has the symptoms of a sick chicken, period. If there is no improvement after several days of amprolium at the .24% level (1.5 teaspoons/gallon), then it's probably a bacterial or fungal infection, or possibly blachead, but her poop looks more like a bacterial infection to me. Best thing to do would be to take a poop sample to the vet and have the look at it under a scope.

I started her on antibiotic flagyl Saturday night; 250 mg. I also got some of the Kaytee baby chick food and mixed the dose with the food and tube fed. Today she started to eat regular food and drink water. Her poop is more solid. I can't thank everyone on this forum enough for all the helpful advice. I learned so much about caring for a sick chicken. How long should I give the flagyl?

Thank you Kathy, very succinctly put. Give probiotics with flagyl, it will be hard on her intestinal flora.
