Let's have a gosling hatchalong!

Does anyone know when breeding season begins in Australia? - I know it is not yet, but my two ganders were having a blue yesterday and that is the first time they have done so since I got them in November.

This is the first batch of geese I have ever hatched and I am such a happy mom. I actually started the hatching addiction last month with some Ameraucana and then some Coturnix Quail. I didn't do so good with the quail. out of 50 eggs only 16 hatched. Two have died and one has such horrible leg problems that it just scoots around with it's wings. I have him/her in a cage all by herself. I tried everything to fix its legs, but no luck. I went to a local auction with my fiance and was so excited when they announced 10 goose eggs that I threw up my card before they even said the starting bid

, but I did win. I think people were a little afraid to bid against me after that. This site has given me so much help in my adventure. I managed to hatch 9 out of the 10 eggs. I have no idea what they are, but they are so darn cute! I also purchased 3 hens at the auction and one of them was still laying fertile eggs up until last week. Now that I know what is in the fertile eggs I don't think I could ever eat one again. One of the eggs from my hen hatched with the geese. I ran out of incubators so I had no choice but to put it in with them and hope for the best. In some of the pictures you can see the happy chick in with the goslings. She is now with my other chicks (Silkies and Seabrights). I have (FINALLY) three fertile Sebastopols out of 17 eggs I have purchased over time that are due soon. Wow, those are some sensitive eggs. Wish me luck!

I woke up this morning to my 1st baby chick in my bator and got to see the 2nd one finish hatching. Wow! They really do zip and pop out fast compared to a goose! The chicks are precious and almost makes me want to have chickens. Almost.

Thank you guys. I had some toulouse geese many years ago so at first I thought these might be toulouse. But after looking at the top of their beaks I thought they looked like African geese also. All I know is that they eat a LOT! Thank goodness we have a lot of grass and weeds too.
