Let's have a gosling hatchalong!

grr my gosling hatched but early yolk sac still exposed so I am trying keep him down till complete absorbtion. This also happened to one of my chicks last week. I realy think im doing something wrong with the humidity. At least I cought it while shell still attachef.

Congrats to all the new gosling owners!

Ive been away from here for two days. Dogs attacked my chickens and geese tuesday, didnt lose anything just feathers, and i almost got bitten trying to chase them off. I'll shoot next time. The law says i have the right to protect my birds.

On a better note my friend gave me a dozen duck eggs to hatch. Do i have to mist them too? First time trying for ducklings.

When it's time to hatch- to keep the humidity up could I use a tall tomato clamshell with a new damp sponge inside? So the egg would be in this small plastic tub with the new damp sponge all by itself...I have visions of a dead shrink wrapped gosling because I think I might struggling to keep the humidity up high enough for it.

I don't think you do but I have been misting mine along with goose eggs- figured it couldn't hurt.

This happened to me too. Hope your little one makes it ok! I should have another baby by tomorrow. It's working on a big hole right now.

I didnt think misting them would hurt since they are waterfowl also. I just put them in with my geese and chicken eggs. So ill have a staggered hatch. They are from a brown runner hen and a peking drake... Are these going to be a weird looking cross?? LoL

I think ducks are just cute period. I bet they are adorable. I am only test hatching so many of mine are mixed. I have a Pekin drake and 2 Appleyard drakes. And then I have those in females plus a few other breeds. I will have some pure and some mixed and I bet the mixed will still be super adorable.

They all are cute. I just hope for healthy babies no matter what they are. LoL my mom and hubby said the will probably look like a big "L" since runners stand vertical and peking are horizontal lol they were teasing me. I could call them "Loser" ducks (new breed lmbo) if they look like a big "L" lol
