Let's have a gosling hatchalong!

Congratulations everybody! I have 6 sebbies starting to transform from little dinosaurs into their pretty big kid feathers complete with curly chests

The Canadian geese (wild) still have all 5 of their goslings. I'm so proud of them! And so fun watching somebody else raise goslings for a change!

Aren't they beautiful

On a fun side....

My hubby is fabricating/building a wood cabinet in the same specs as my Bator. He is an amazing guy, and this should look like a old icebox & looking at making it hatch around 200-300 eggs. Same paddle, drum, motors, etc. The only thing we cannot recreate is the mercury thermometer settings, so we are going digital.

Maybe I could post our build somewhere? We were going to stain it ~ What color should I use Utah (want it to match your house

~ After all you are going to be the 1st to use our model ! You will get Model 1x1

Lost another gosling. Daisy the two week old. Dixie and the other two ganged up on her. I think they broke something inside her. Dixie was a week older and the other two were Daisy's age so i dont know why they did it. Heard screaming ran in and they was pulling her in 3 different directions. She died shortly after i got her away from them. Im so sick right now. Daisy was the sweetest of them all. Makes me mad that they did that to one of their own. So they are going to be rehomed i cant take a chance of them doing that as they get older to a chicken or duck or another
goose.

8Geese,

That is so sad to hear. Hopefully if you break up the gang they will do better at their new homes. But I'm sorry to hear about my namesake.

I just got 12 more goose eggs for my incubator from a different farmer. So I'll have unrelated full Embdens to breed for myself next season, assuming these hatch successfully, that is. ;) So I guess I can legitimately stay in the forum, after all. (not that I wasn't going to troll, anyway.)

On a positive note, I assisted a Welsh Harlequin duck yesterday, but it just kind of laid there an twitched for the last day. I came home with the goose eggs to find it up and around, with its eyes open, actually walking. So not what I was expecting. Determined little duckling, that's for sure!

I believe it maybe Contagious too. Congrats on the new babies, are you keeping them all?
Nope I have not got the room here! We will keep them for a few weeks to see how they do and probably sell them on to good homes. Went to bed with 2 half fluffy goslings still in the incubator and now have 5 in there! with the last two stragglers deciding they would pip out of the SIDE of the egg!

My other half is getting a dab hand at helping the eggs out.

I am going to try to split them up or if someone wants all three, ill make sure that they know they need to be seperated and put with different goslings. These were supposed to be my new additions to my brown chinese group, but i will not keep killers no matter what species. I have a hard enough time making sure stray dogs dont attack while they are outside without having the attackers being on the inside. I dont have another shot at any browns in my next hatch, the only egg that made it past 14 days was bad tonight when i candled. 11 eggs left and those are white chinese and roman tufted, and maybe a brown/white cross, i dont know though. I am so ready for the hatching season to be over, so much loss this year its killing my nerves. The only thing that did really well was my ducks.
