Let's have a gosling hatchalong!

This maybe a stupid question but i have been wondering this and since i didnt raise my white chinese or roman tufteds, i have nothing to go on....
When do the baby ganders get their blue eyes? Or do they hatch with blue eyes? I have held all my white goslings under a light and looked but their eyes dont look to be blue.
Interesting question because I can't remember if my Embden had blue eyes when he hatched since that was 6 years ago

Hey Kim your sebbie babies look great. I see the stiff wings on the one and one on another. Those should fall out on their first molt. Boy are you going to get questions....

Hi everyone. We are at the end of a busy breeding season, and the oldest babies are getting their curly feathers. I wanted to go ahead and post this cause I'm sure "angel wing" questions will start very soon. THIS IS NOT ANGEL WING. These are stiff primaries and great examples of what not to worry about. Angel Wing sticks out of the body at a 90 degree angle.

And the whole famdamily minus Paige who ran off with the American gander first chance she got *lol*
7 more babies that are still TINY so here we go again. These older ones are sortof honking when they talk now.

nee nee nee neeeeehonk
Nice family. Mine aren't that big yet and I still have about 20 eggs in the incubator. Hopefully I get more to hatch.

Beautiful pictures (as always) and very interesting information about stiff wings. I noticed my African gosling's getting wings were looking like that and I couldn't figure out what was up with that.

I got the impression that it was just Sebs that get the funky looking feathers before they start to curl. Will smooth feathered breeds do that too?

I have a few full-curly sebs with the straight primaries too. Some stick up, some are tucked in so they aren't as noticeable. None of my smooth birds have it, or at least to the same extreme.

I dealt with angelwing a few times last year, so know what that looks like. Both hubby and I have been staring at my African girl's wings, scratching our heads, because there is no turning out of the wing, but they stick up. I can take a pic of my girl if it would help to see because we had been debating on wrapping them.

In hatching news..... my latest pair of dewlaps have pipped. One is getting close to zipping but I cannot see the beak yet. The other internally/externally pipped in the bottom middle of the egg, but seems to be doing well despite the weird position.

for healthy hatchlings and at least one buff girl!
