Lets see your Egyptians (plus pinioning pics on page 3)

Randy,
Aggressive towards other waterfowl only? Or other birds- say turkeys?

Steve

They seem to only be aggressive towards waterfowl their size or smaller. We have a pair with 7 babies that stay by our chicken pens. They chase the Black East Indies away but don't care about the chickens, turkeys, peacocks.

Yes if you pinion babies with in the first couple days for hatching- they usually do not bleed more than a little drop. From a couple days to about a week or so they will get a few drops of blood but nothing to serious. Pinioning older babies will bleed more- you can hold some flour, powdered sugar or bloodstop powder on it to help stop the bleeding faster.

One thing that I think helps is after you pinion the bird, release it, put in back in the brooder or with the parents, if you hold the bird, it is more stressed by that and gets the heart beating faster; so it will bleed more than if you release it right away.

Don't worry if you see some blood on the bird's side, if the baby does get a little drop of blood on the cut- when that rubs off onto the side- it may make a little blood spot which the baby will wash off when it gets to the water dish.
