LG 9300 first time go

Mary got us the Lux Pro Extreme TAC 500 LED flashlight. That thing tosses out 250 lumens. Will ask her to post about price and where she picked it up. Reminds me a lot of the one's I used in service without the cord and thumb switch. We couldn't wait so we opened the bater and held it over a few of the eggs. Even in a lit room we could see veining and embryo development in the few we looked at, which was four. One egg looks like a non starter but we will wait until day 14 to make any decision. Amazing light and it does not throw heat off. Now we have to learn to cup it and balance an egg on our hand while the other takes a photo.

We went ahead and candled all 12 last night. 11 of 12 minions are moving around and looking like they should. It was nice to point out the air sack and other aspects of the developing chick to our kidos. A single lone minion appears unable to catch the spark of life. We will leave it in just in case it was sleeping in some hidden place. We did take photos but are disappointed in the quality of them. Probably need to adjust something or practice more. Will post one later today. Currently we are nearing the half way point of the adventure. A fan kit has been ordered. Update on temp, we are running mostly with the LG's thermostat set at 102.9 degrees. Occasionally it needs to be moved up or down about a half degree. That usually occurs in the evening and morning as we switch from AC in the home to heat or vice versa. Placing the LG in a closet would probably remedy that, but then we wouldn't be able to see it as often or as easily. Air sacks development looks just like the diagrams others have shared for this stage. Whew

We need practice with taking these photos. The veining and air sack don't show well here but that black dot is the growing embryo on day 9. It moves around like a little ghost, haunting the inside of the egg. 11 of the 12 looked just about the same.

Day 11 and just over half way to hatch day. We have 11 still growing inside their shells. A small increase in temp during the night. It got up to 100.3 at center egg height, which is still good to go. We have read a few studies from universities and our confidence is growing with each passing day. Keeping our fingers crossed that we can keep it up for the second half. We ordered a fan kit from ebay for 15.99 which included free shipping. It will be used the next time we try incubation.
