Fires are bad. I know it sounds weird, but I find it very difficult to imagine Canada burning… is this something which occurs yearly?
In certain areas, yes. Same with certain areas of the States. Happens a lot when you have so much forested areas (and idiots that have campfires when they aren't supposed to, or know how to put them out, etc).

Or giant swaths of drought killed grasses and trees like out here. I think we've had 2 or 3 small ones at least this summer

This is mainly our issue with fires too, drought has killed so much of our forests, they light up easily with lightening strikes. Dead grasses go up easily when people pull over into grassy areas. Of course like Wind mentioned, lots of careless campers and their fires, we get a lot of people and their Welders sparking up fires too. Thankfully they have called off all prescribed burns for now, good grief, no one can count how many fires have been started by the Forest Service themselves with out of control prescribed burns! :barnie

The wild horses have been hanging out nearby for a couple of weeks. Always enjoyable to spot one up close...

Must be magical to have wild horses near you!
It is! They speak the history of the American west, all of the Americas really. It's amazing they still exist in modern times, small pockets of herds still roam in the more remote places in the US. I love seeing them! 🐎
