I would imagine there are wild herds in Canada?
I DID adopt a wild mustang many moons ago! Generally they only round them up if they are not able to sustain themselves and are starving to death. This horse came from a Texas roundup back in the 1970s, I was a teenager. I had to send in an application and prove that I could provide him a good home, all kinds of red tape. He came in very thin, full of worms, had a leg injury, the vet guessed he was 5 years old. Another horse that came in with him had to be put down, she was very ill with something respiratory. This horse I chose was terrified of people and dangerous, he needed to be gelded to calm him down and not kill anyone or other horses, constantly rearing up and lashing out. Took me weeks just to be able to touch him without him panicking. Halter trained him for another few months, at the 6 month mark I finally got on him, bareback mind you,

he NEVER bucked once, had complete trust in me. He became a very faithful horse, very intelligent, we went on to placing many blue ribbons and trophies in the show circuit. He lived to be approximately 28 years old.
