Mackinaw is an actual town near the bridge to the Upper Peninsula and Mackinac is the Island, however they are both pronounced "Mack-in-awe. Supposedly the town wanted to distinguish itself from the island.

Agreed. I grew up in the 'burbs and lived in Ottawa most of it. Ottawa may be a large city, but it has a small city feel to it (except the downtown core). Still, I couldn't wait to get out of there and to the middle of nowhere!


I've been trying!!! But there's the border problem. One doesn't just relocate to Canada.

Yes middle of nowhere has my name on it. I can't live anywhere else, I just don't fit in anywhere else.

This is true on the border issue, couldn't he get a visa or a green card for a while and apply for citizenship? I really don't know what's involved in crossing borders however.

Nowhere else I'd rather be now. I don't do well with lots of people, lol.

I've been looking at stuff for him to come over. Technically, he can't stay more than six months if visiting. And since I'm not working (and he wouldn't be able to) I would feel bad about asking him to help pay for stuff while he's here. It's so complicated!

Same thing about me going over there. Not that I'd move to the city, which means we'd have to get a place in the country, which is also expensive.

And no offense, but I don't want to live in the States, lol!
