It sounds like "roamers" need to have strong leg muscles? I would think this is true. They look muscular in their stance. This would explain how a day old chick could hop up in that crate!

I believe so. They're definitely strong, so a combination of good muscle and the very limited conditioning they've had from following Cruella is the reason they could jump that high

Is Cruella a Landrace too?

I really don't know. I've tried to figure out what her genetic makeup is quite a bit. I've found a breeder of bantam Tsouloufati, but the last time they posted or were generally active was 6 years ago. Other than that, (sorry if it's not OK to tag you) @Shadrach had some mixed breed bantams that look almost identical to her back in Catalonia, so I have no clue. Whatever she is, she is an absolutely amazing bird

Yup! She's so pretty (in my eyes, at least) and she's such a good mom. I don't think I could've asked for a better bird

Tribe 2, the bantam tribe you may have seen pictures of I looked after in Catalonia were a mixture; a mixture of exactly what got more confusing as the generations bred.
I don't know much about the breeds that are common on this forum. However, there was definitely some Old English Game in the mix. I'll dig up some pictures, but it won't be tonight, which will hopefully give you some idea of what the mixture was.
What I do know is they were a joy to look after. Not too friendly but very self reliant and very well organized as a tribe with virtually no in tribe problems despite there being up to four males with seven females at one point.

I still say it's because they're using their diminutive foster-momma to jump off of. :P
