LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

Will you be breeding or just have females for eggs? My first batch was raised without pools their whole lives, but I e come to learn since they've been gone that it can be dangerous for males to breed out of the water.

Metzer claims that runners don't swim as often as their other breeds do
I want ducks which are good for both eggs and meat.

Has anyone here read Mad Honey by Jodi Piccoult?
Lots of info about honey, but also about transgender issues.
She has written many books about 'controversial' social issues, bringing them to the forefront with much research and candor.
This one was a bit different.
First, the trans aspect was not revealed in the front flap description, which is often how I pick books out. I gathered it was about domestic violence, which it is, but the trans part took me by glad surprise when it came up in the reading.
Second, the 'voice' seemed a bit different from her other books, because it was co-authored and that partnership was thoroughly and honestly explained(like most of her subjects).

It might offer some comfort to LGBTQ+ folks as well as others who are curious about that world.

All of this. I would recommend it to everyone. Because it is written in "reverse" (where you sort of start in the middle of the story and work backwards to reveal more) and from the perspective of two people, it's such an interesting read. And yes, the trans voice is incredibly honest and informative. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

In medias res?

Do you have any predators lurking?
We have cats, jackals, and Oliver, who kidnapped 3 hens, and 11 chicks some time ago.
Mr, Sexless chases jackals away without a problem, he's a big guy.
Edit: Sexless is confined inside the coop, so he can't really do anything if a jackal (somehow) climbed the roof and tried to get a pullet.
