I haven't been to a dentist in a while. I should, but...

I don't know what it is about them that freaks people out so much though. I mean, so many people have a fear of dentists. Much more than fear of doctors.
I just hate other people's hands/dental tools in my mouth. It makes me feel agitated and trapped. When you go to the regular doctor, you're usually just talking, and if you need some kind of procedure there's sedation involved (or it's something quick and not so invasive).

I had to have surgery as a kid to fix an adult tooth that was growing sideways under my gums so it could grow out normally. It wasn't awful, except that the numbing kept wearing off faster than they had planned and I could still feel what they were doing, it just didn't hurt when the numbing actually worked. But the feelings, hearing them talking about what they were doing, and seeing the stuff being sucked away (including bits of jawbone they had to move to get to the tooth entirely) go on repeat every time I consider the dentist. That combined with the constant scolding I got from the hygienist and dentist as a kid for never having perfectly clean teeth just made it awful. I was always told it was my fault I ended up with a cavity and that I wasn't doing good enough.

I haven't gone since before I started college, I drink soda and I loathe brushing my teeth, so I know it's not going to be a quick cleaning.

This too. And when the doctor disapproves of my dietary habits, usually they say their piece and we move on to the rest of the appointment. Every time I went to the dentist (orthodontist wasn't as bad usually, the hardware just always hurt being put in and adjusted), the entire appointment was shaming me for not brushing and flossing multiples times a day and not drinking only water

It's fine for the health professional to tell me what I could/should to for better health. I do most of it anyway, and my health reflects it.

But I would be seriously turned off if a dentist harangued me for not brushing/flossing. Or for a doc to rag on me to lose weight. Why would I go to endure that, AND pay dearly for it?

Mine was technically a pediatric one, even the last few times I went. My mother thinks their goal was that if they always got after kids for never brushing good enough, the kids would brush even more no matter what so they weren't in trouble.

I'm tired. I think I'll try to sort ducks today though. I have someone who wants a rouen on Sunday, so I need to seperare the sale ones again. I need to sort my Swedish too again. I didn't think to keep them seperate when I let everyone out again so I don't know which 2 boys and girls I was selling. Well, I know the drake I keeping, I just have to go through the quack test for everyone else
