Persepolis bent down, tightening the laces on her army boots to ensure that they would stay on her feet. She stayed crouched, surveying the valley around her. She was beginning her training. This session would be about evading a pursuer at close range. It would require quick thinking, fast reflexes, and active senses. Persepolis closed her eyes and took several deep breaths, fine-tuning her focus. With her eyes still closed, Persepolis imagined the sound of running footsteps behind her and shouts for her to surrender. Her eyes snapped open and she looked over her shoulder. In her mind, she saw a man larger than her coming at her. He was clearly angry and intent on catching on her.
The chase was on.
In a split second Persepolis was off, pushing off the ground with her right foot. From what she had seen of her opponent, he didn't seem like he wanted to deal with many challenges. Using this information, Persepolis ran head-on towards a large boulder, taller than she was. At the last second, Persepolis jumped, grabbing onto the top of the boulder with her fingers. She hauled herself up quickly, looking back at her pursuer. He was attempting to make his way onto the boulder after her. He was slower, but he was almost there. Persepolis wasn't waiting for him. She pressed her wings against her body, pretending she didn't have any to use. Next, she slid off the boulder and made a beeline for one of the rock walls, doing a few rolls and flips to make herself a harder target to aim at. She could hear the man grunt as he jumped off the boulder they had just been on. Footsteps behind her told her he was catching up. Persepolis started doing a wall run 6 feet up the wall, buying time to decide what she was going to do next.
