Light Brahma Hen or Roo?

We're wondering if our Lola is really a Larry. S/he is currently 18 weeks old and no eggs I can be sure came from this one. No spurs I can see and hackle and neck feathers are fat and rounded, not thin and pointy. However, top tail feathers are getting longer and beginning to turn down, very large compared to the others (but first ever Brahma), kinda keeps to itself (sleeps outside the roost unless I put her/him in) and is beginning to make sounds that are different from my other six chickens. Not really crowing, just different. Comb and waddles are fairly large and bright red, but similar to three of my other chickens (Wyandotte, Sussex and Australorp) that are laying. Am I being paranoid or in denial? Can't have a rooster in town, so will need to make other arrangements if she is a he. What do you think and why. THANX!

Me too on the tail... But I'm unfamiliar with Brahma; wouldn't the waddles and comb be bigger for 18 weeks if it were a cockerel? Looks pullet near lay with the comb, but the longer sickle feathers make me curious... I'll see what the consensus is

this bird has a pea comb, making the bird fairly easy to sex early on. Look at this guy head on, and you'll see three distinct ridges on his comb....that's a male thing. Females have one ridge down the middle. Plus, the saddle feathers that are starting to drape so prettily....only males have those.

Brahmas are slow to mature, so you've probably got a little time to find him a home before he starts crowing or otherwise gets obnoxious.

Not a Brahma, but this is a mature hen with a pea comb. Not as good a picture as yours, but you can enlarge it and see the single row vs your boy's three ridges. Just for future reference
