Light Sussex....

I have 8 of these guy I hatched myself about 8 weeks ago. Right now, there are 2 distinct differences in them. Some have larger, redder combs and also upright, more developed tails. The other group have lighter combs and much smaller tails...Is this a good indication of sex or are they all just at different stages. (eventhough they are all the same age)
Any ideas what I have here?

well reder combs make me think- cokeral, but shorter tails makes me think-cockeral, because there tails tend to grow slower, but not always.

What confuses me is that you have red cobs with long tails and light combs with short tails. So without pics it is really hard to sex them just by listed charateristiics (even though very detailed).
I hope this helps a little although what I typed might be a little confusing. If you need me to restate just ask i would be glad to because even when i read through it i think it is a little confusing.
