Lock down humidity help

For 2 1/2 hours no more movement on the pipping egg. There does not appear to be a full hole opened - just a crack. At about 1:30 I saw the shell moving in and out as the chick was pipping. Now, at 4 pm, no more movement. Do you think the chick is resting?

This is my first incubator hatch so I've never been able to observe them hatching before - always hatched naturally. The egg is in an angle where I can not clearly see the pipping hole/crack.

Thanks for your advice

I am having trouble placing the cockerels?  Any advice?

I hope somebody does, cuz I have too many too! :D

I hate giving them away, but that's about what it takes, just to get rid of them.

Try Craigslist and FB.

It could take up to 24 hours from the time it pipped. You can try pecking on the incubator, playing videos of chicks chirping (they do react to the sound), and even shining your flashlight quickly back and forth across the egg. Those things seem to get reactions from mine, just to confirm they are still alive. But yes, they do rest alot. It's hard work getting out of that little egg. :D

I know angles of viewing can be tough, try shining from every direction. It's probably a bigger break in the shell than you think.

crazy question. If my other 3 eggs do not hatch for a few days and the 1st one hatches tonight, how long should I leave the one hatchling in the incubator? Should I wait a few days to see if the others hatch? Have you ever encountered that?

Guess I am kinda putting the cart before the horse here. Hoping all 4 hatch.

It all depends. If the one would be really active and roll the other eggs around too much, I'd pull it out. But sometimes they encourage the others to hatch.

And normally, 48 hours is a good guideline from the fist one hatching, the last one should be out. I've had them stretch out longer when doing multiple breeds at the same time though. But per breed, and if they are set at the same time, it should wrap up within 48 hours or so.

I have a three day spread on the four eggs. One could finish hatching tonight and the fourth one may not hatch until Friday. I'll post if that is happening. Just like a plan B before I am faced with a situation.
