Lockdown starts today! Who's gonna hatch with me? UPDATE PICS!

Rustywoman - thanks for the advice. The first pip was Tuesday evening. The first one to pip is still not out and it is not really zipping. There is a hole in the side of the egg and I can see it moving around but it doesn't seem to be making any progress. I have 1 that is almost out and one that is now zipping. I am going to wait until later to see what happens. If no more progress is made I will start with the oldest zip and follow your advice. Thanks!!!

Thanks Kathy and what wonderful news on your babies too. I sure hope you get some Ikelettes or Phoebes & Kira's!

Sekinkead, I am wishing you good luck on the rest of the chicks. I am sure you will do great helping any out. It is scary the first few times and sometimes the chicks did not hatch for a good reason. But when humidity is the factor they usually do just fine after you help them out.
I have 9 out and the other 3 eggs have pips. If they hatch that would be 12 out of 12! I am so loving this dry hatch method!

Kathy - Congrats on the fluffy and the pips.

Rustyswoman - I took your advice and started working on them. The outer membrane was pretty dry on all of them even though my humidity was high. So I took my time and started pulling shell and outer membrane off of them. I have put them back in the incubator to rest and warm up. One of them that was almost completely out did finally hatch with a little help. I will let you know about the rest as I work on them. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

Here are some pics of my fuzzy butts that have hatched and the awesome new brooder my wonderful husband built for me in our basement.

Yeah for all you hatchers! Thanks for sharing pics, I hope to do the same! This has been a fun "hatchathon" on the BYC; have gotten to read & share with some real nice, funny, kind & experienced people. Never thought of doing it before; glad to have joined in.

Have peeping & 2 pips at 9:00 pm; 6 or 7 eggs due to hatch on 24th, today. Can hardly wait to see them on their feet. Wish me luck!

Merry Christmas to you all!

Germaine ... where are you? Did the last 3 pips hatch yet?

I have 7 Dellies hatched now, and more pips yet ... including Meg's egg and Fern's egg.

Oh every time they are a miracle! Thanks for the pics! Sekinkead your chicks look beautiful! and love the brooder!!

Germaine so how come you have a better hatch with my eggs shipped than I do!?!
I'm just lovin these chicks! Love it when you put your hand in there and instead of running away they jump right into your hand!

Hang in there murano and Congrats Kathy!!

The 1st hatched is a Bantam Faverolles, is right on time & is strong. There are 5 or 6 more to go.

QUESTION: When would you drop the temp down to 95 F?

In the past, I would take this one out within a few hours & put into the brooder at 95 F. But... am doing the "dry incubation" method for the first time & will not be opening the bator until all are hatched; tomorrow morning if all done should be a good time for the brooder. That's the plan, to not drop the humidity for the rest; hold me back! Don't feel that now is the time to go down to 95 F, because of the others to hatch. Thanks!
