I planned on doing the Daisy style I saw on here and other sites. But I've always wanted to do a log playhouse or small shed with landscape timbers. While pricing material for the Daisy Coop I saw my local Lowe's had 8' landscape timbers on sale for $2.50 ea. (Normally $4.30ish) so I decided to run with a log coop.
I'm new here and as I stated in my intro I'm not a woodsmith or builder. I sketched it out based off the Daisy design with the plan off making it 4'x8'. I pretty much winged it from there. I definitely would have benefited from scaling it down and figuring out measurements but what's the fun in that?
I'm about 90% done and will continue to update....

A couple update pics. Work and weather have slowed my progress. Hope to get them in mid week. The grey is chinking mortar I'll need to go back and clean off the extra. The PVC feed and water containers are removable. I added logs offset in the soffits about an inch for ventilation. The gable peaks on the ends have gaps as well.
A few things left to do. I have leftover vinyl planks I planned on using over the floor. Still have some work to do in the nesting box areas. Going to make removable nesting boxes later. For now I'm just going to block them off. Add some treads to the ramp. The big doors on the back will need an upgrade. Plywood is starting to warp already.
I wanted to add these to my original post but couldn't figure out how if even can.

<cringes>

Love the big roof overhangs!
Are soffits open for ventilation?

Right now its completely open. I will be adding logs between the trusses which will continue the wall to the roof but with spacers so as to vent into the soffit. The roof peak has about an inch gap and the ridge cap is open at the ends.

Edit: I see you are from SW Michigan too. It stood strong to the winds yesterday but still going to be adding supports.

I love it, looks just like a little log cabin!

I'm really digging the idea of using landscape timbers myself now... this is awesome

If I had to do it over I would have done a few things different. I hope to sit down someday, draw it out and create plans with some improvements.
There was a reason they were on sale. For the most part the timbers were fairly consistent but I had to pick through a lot of them. I bought 50 and I believe I have 8 left over.

After a long day of working on the coop we moved the ladies in today. The doors I had before were temporary. The last pictures of the feed and water mounted were to see how it fit. I modified the hangers so the water and feeder can be easily taken off the doors. I couldn't get out to buy lumber so I cut up an old door. Im glad I didn't listen to my wife for 8 years telling me to toss it. It didn't take long at all to train them to use the water nipples. I blocked off the nesting boxes which is pretty much the only thing I have left to do. Planning on making removable boxes.
