Log Coop Using Landscape Timbers

Off Grid Log Coop?

Welp, officially gone overboard. Remote control door? Why not? Of course I'll need a battery and a way to keep it charged. I planned on having a battery and solar panel to power 12v heat tape to keep the water from freezing so in my defense the power was going to be there anyway. Why not add an actuator. I'll be upgrading to a larger battery come winter when I add heat tape. For now it is plenty for the door.
Again, I'm not a woodsmith and don't have much in woodworking tools so it's a little rough but it works. It can still be opened easily if the battery dies or something goes bad.

Will you be able to see it when you close it to make sure there's not a chicken sitting under the door?
IF there's not a torque trip, it may become a guillotine.

It's the slowest I could find at 5.7mm/s. Takes almost 45 seconds to open or close. I don't have the hardware yet but my next version will have safety measures in place. Yes we have a clear line of sight.

Looks awesome, though I'd replace the chicken wire on windows with hardware cloth or welded wire.
It Is temporary. I got a few feet of it for free from a neighbor. Mainly to keep them from pecking the screen and window from the inside for now. It is on my list short list of eventual upgrades. I plan on taking apart a used dog kennel and mounting the panels. We are good at closing and locking the windows but I know it only takes one night to forget for a raccoon or other predators to take advantage. I also know how smart racoons can be. They were a problem when we had ducks years ago.

Probably want to make windows raccoon proof so you can leave them open 24/7.
That's the plan. Plus what's the point of having a remote control door if we have to go out and close the windows anyway.

The logs in the soffits are temporary also. I am going to take your advice about keeping them open. Probably going to go with heavier wire but I'm looking at another option.
