Look what my son found this morning!(THE BIG UPDATE pg. 5)

yes, they are more active at night, but awake during the day too. they are much less nippy than hamsters.
we like them much more than the hammies we have had in the past.

they are easy to keep and very easily handled if done from early age.

Congratulations on your new babies ...and so glad she only had the two!

It would be a good idea to remove the Mum and her little ones from the male ...if the other adult really is a male.. and be sure to remove any male babies at 3 weeks. Otherwise, you WILL have more piggies on the way! (Conception can happen within the first 24 hours of birth, so don't be too surprised if you have another litter brewing. Back to back pregnancy is really detrimental to a sow of any age, as well.)

Guinea Lynx is an awesome site for all kinds of useful info, like determining gender properly.. diet... illnesses ..and so on.

Give Mum and her kids some extra alfalfa hay with the usual timothy ..as the youngin's need the extra nutrients. After 3 months, the babies and the adults, should only have alfalfa hay as a treat (as too much can cause stones).

Good luck with your piggy pack!

Guinea pig babies are born running, hair and eyes open, that is why gestation period is longer in Cavy!! It is so cool. We use to raise and show them.

Make sure they are getting plenty of vitamin C. Congrats on the new babies

the male, Vivienne, passed away 4 weeks ago. these are his legacies.
thanks for the tips and the link!

they are already following both the other females about and doing their 'guinea pig' things. chattering up a storm!

we sure do. we have a rabbit and guineas, so we make sure to get the vitamin C for the pigs.

oh, they are getting cuter by the minute!

20 minutes until Elizabeth gets home....ugh....the suspense is killing me!
