I hope you catch your culprit. From what I’ve read the kills don’t sound like cats... but I could be totally wrong on that, if I am wrong then congrats on catching and rejoining the strays and ferals!

I have not had feral cats, but people have dumped roosters on me 2 x.

And yet you can find stats that state there are. 30-40 million feral cats in the USA. Plus all the ones they couldn’t count. You cannot know unless you have to deal with

yes exactly like I said, 125 million cats with roughly 1/3rd being feral(40 million). still a far cry from 2 billion. thank you, I think maybe now we go back to helping the OP and not debating feral cat numbers in this thread... . ?

If your pop door is the same size as the trap opening, you can set the trap right there. Put something on each side so it cant be moved, such as rebar or cinder block. Make sure not to handle the trap too much, or use something to mask your smell so a predator will not avoid it.

Well the last couple of days nothing has been caught. I guess my chickens are safe now but I will stay vigilant.

Those are not "stray cats" but rather feral cats. They are bad news no matter how you look at it. They aren't something you can 'rehome'.
