Hi Again

I’ve got the bug, and set more eggs

This go around, I have set 12 Ayam Cemani eggs (1-12), and 10 barnyard mix. I would love if you would choose 1 (or whatever ) to adopt.

I will keep you apprised of the little ones developments, and pictures, of course

THE holiday on April 9th this year is Easter, but I wanted to also remember the unicorn holiday, because unicorns and chicks. Is there a difference?

We’ve got the usual suspects again - Cyclone, my 1 1/2 yr old Ayam Cemani roo and his Cemani harem. (He is not a factor with the barnyard mix this time)

Lloyd, the 8(?) month old Blue Leghorn cockerel, and his harem, which include: Buff Orpington, Rhode Island Red, Blue Plymouth, Easter Egger, Olive Egger and Crested Cream Legbar mix.

I’m getting antsy because I’m not candling for a couple more days. In an attempt to keep myself amused until then, I thought I would fill up this dead space with a couple fun chicken facts for you

The largest chicken egg ever recorded weighed 12 oz and contained two yolks

The rooster love dance is called “tidbitting”

Only the left ovary of a hen (pullet) develops to maturity

See, don’t you feel better going to bed tonight with this knowledge in your noggin?

I went ahead and candled last night and pulled the last Cemani egg, #10 @Yard farmer and #13 @Ilovemychicks08

This has been a wicked brutal hatch-a-long, I think next time I’ll just do a HATCHED-a-long, that way nobody loses an egg

Ok, peeps. I have good news and bad news.

The bad news is that @junior67 is a horrible influence.

The good news is that my new Brinsea OvaView Egg Candling Lamp works pretty good. Tried it on a green kitchen egg, saw right inside. Tried it on a colored egg in the bator, and wow! (Pic 1)Tried it on a dark brown egg, and still better than the light on the bator. (Pic 2)

And which eggs, you say, were candled from the bator? Numbers 13 and 20. Totally random, but both belong to @Ilovemychicks08.
