Made an interesting discovery today

I've been getting HUGE rich brown eggs from some of my chickens, so big and fat that the large cartons (and occasionally a jumbo!) won't close over them. I assumed they were coming from my 2 silver cuckoo Marans. Janis and Joan are a year older than my other brown egg layers, and I figured the big eggs were coming from the older, considerably larger chickens. I started to suspect I was wrong when I lost one of my Red Stars to a dog a few weeks ago, and the number of those eggs dropped. Today I got confirmation: It's my little Red Star, Melora, who's pumping them out. Poor thing- the eggs are almost as large as she is!
