Locked down 50 last nigh, mostly because I can't tell what's going on in the dark shelled ones. Down to 7 CrystalCreek eggs, but I saw movement in them!

They flew me to another hospital as soon as I was stable enough to be moved........................... but that was only for stents. My heart function wasn't quite that low when they sent me home from the surgery, but they said as the damaged heart muscle scarred over my heart function would improove; it did. Perhaps they need to wait a bit for your father to strengthen before doing the surgery? He remains in my prayers.

I listened to an NPR story yesterday with the Dr./Lawyer who authored "Hippocratic Myth" about the increasing phenomenon of doling out healthcare not based necessarily on what would be the ultimate best care for the patient. You should go listen to it.

I would highly recommend being very thorough in your questions regarding your father's care and get answers to your questions- don't allow partial answers or flimsy answers. Ask for aggressive treatment. It's worth it to make some firm demands and pay close attention. You don't have to be nasty to be an advocate for your loved one, and most people are afraid to be firm or aggressive, but you can do it with a smile. It needs to happen for your family!

Well, I had 24 shipped eggs in lockdown, and 23 of them hatched! (The one that didn't had a big, deep scratch on it, so I'm not surprised about it.) This was from 2 different people shipping eggs to me. Great packing, gentle postal workers, and my "fool-proof" bator. I love my Brinsea Oct 20 Advance!!

Now I can enjoy my hatches instead of constsntly adjusting and worrying!

I'm not expecting such a great hatch rate with my Lavender Ameraucanas Crystalcreek sent me. Even with her awesome packing 3 were broken, which tells me that the post office was making up for being so kind to the other eggs!

I have a 3 month old (13 week old to be precise) golden cuckoo marans cockerel...I went out this morning and lo and behold, he was - successfully - mating a hen. I am new to chickens so - is that normal? My other roosters were all a minimum of five months before they were servicing hens. Anyone?
