All of you in the Phoenix area:
My Peoria/Sun City grandmother's blind, elderly, asthmatic Pug got out today, because someone left the gate open. Grandma has poor vision and couldn't go far to find it. After a long search by her helper who checks on Grama daily, it was discovered that the folks on the corner caught it, put it in their HOT garage, and called Animal Control, who killed it immediately because it was, "breathing funny."
Does anyone know of a Pug rescue in the area that doesn't charge hundreds of dollars, require 6 pages of paperwork and check on the animals regularly? Grama wants a new dog and can even take a blind, elderly dog, but she's on a fixed income, 85, tired and doesn't want strangers in her house once a month.
I feel so badly for her- what a horrible thing this ridiculous Animal Control department did. It was a clean, well-groomed, trained, elderly dog in obviously well-kept condition. How DARE they not give the owners some time or seek a vet's opinion on the breathing. I'm livid and very sad. That dog was her only companion!
BAD WORDS!!! MANY LOUD BAD WORDS!!!
