I candled four of the dozen TJs eggs, and got worried/creeped out by the changes which weren't enough to make me guess which might be good ones. One, however, had what looked like two itty, bitty, sections of veining, not connected to each other... Just out there. So I just put them back. I think a candling on day 10 will be better for me, and I can cull bad ones then so I don't have any more stacked in the 'bator.

Rachel, daisychick and greyeys your responses have settled my nerves some. Thank you! I keep looking at the incubating eggs thread that has the candling pictures and I am just not seeing what I see in those pictures so clearly. Daisychick, I will compare the way an unincubated egg looks to what is developing, that is great advice. I will just have to keep my hands out of the bator for the next couple of days and let them be. It is so hard not to check them constantly. Thank goodness the bator is keeping stable even with me candling the last couple of days. Just first time incubating nerves!

The dogs did hear alot from me (mostly crying) but it was my fault I have been letting them sleep in the laundry room at night as it has been bitter cold and was running late for work and just forgot to put them out. I have 2 Standard Poodles @50-60# and then an Aussie/Heeler mix @45ish# when they play they play hard but still damage was done

Well, looks like I'm one of few who actually had the bravery to candle all my eggs. . .

And, umm, looks like my Blue Wheaten Marans eggs are the only ones fertile. . . .

I have dark eggs mostly so I doubt I would see anything anyway.

I saw that someone else had recieved smashed eggs from the PO. lotspaints sent me a box full of eggs. I had several that were smashed, so I really hope they are not all goners. I ended up with 29 but 2 of those had cracks that I used wax on. Never have had any I did that or nail polish on make it, but I took a shot. She sent me some partridge rocks and although I don't care for rock in particular, if I get a few I might hold one to a pair or trio.

I hope my Christmas babis still make it after the spike I had.

Finally had to throw in the towel on the last hatch. I had 36 and 4 with into lockdown. They looked iffy. So no AS or Icelandics for me

These were from Warden and momawolf544.

I've gotten so many smashed boxes the past few months and broken aircells. Gets depressing after a while.

I figure from the few I got to hatch since April my birds have run me about $150 a piece. OUCH!

Not only is that expensive just goes to show how much I've spent that I couldn't really afford to. Stupid me.

But this hatch is going to be part of a whole New Year, so here's hoping this will be a better year for something.
