HappyChooks, Very nice coop. I just got a bit further down the page. Very nicely built. Mine is just thrown together. LOL Looks similar, but not the same.

Thanks, I've never built anything in my life. I had guidance from my DH though. Lots of curse words, smashed fingers and blood went into it.​

I thought the same thing when my girl was broody. Then I started watching the level of the food, and could see that she was eating, she was just sneaking it. It's their way of protecting their nest.

She's in the coop with 9 other girls .. so I refill feeders and waterers every day anyway .. One of the other hens is still laying in that same nest.. so I don't know if she's doing it while Whoopie is off the nest .. or she's running Whoopie off the nest .. or she is laying on top of her .. LOL

But I have to pull an unmarked blue egg out of the nest every night ..

Weirdo .. it's not like there aren't other boxes to choose from .. the OTHER girls have figured it out..

Every day I have to go out and make sure my water heaters are working for the horses I think of that and just want to throttle the people who moved us here.

The area is very pretty but 16 years in sunny AZ have spoiled me rotten when it comes to cold snowy winters. The hour drive to Dugway is a ton of fun as well

I was not quite as upset when they arrived broken because it was done and there was nothing I could do about it. Kathy had packaged them very well and these things happen. The dog stealing one was my fault because I know what he is capable of and I left the eggs on the table and went to grab something. But the incubator slipping out of my hands and landing on the eggs was so clumsy of me. Especially, when I had a mishap on my last hatch, I chose to be careful and not handle the eggs as much. Ugh........... I was so upset last night that I could not even sleep because I was so worked up and beating myself over it.

Well I have had a major upset here Dogs were playing in the house and knocked over the bator lost half my eggs and the rest may be too beat up to hatch so I am right there with you

They are all rescues and you know how you are given one wild child. The others are angels. I was prepared that way and put them on a very sturdy computer desk and I put it against the wall, makes it difficult for me to see but safer for the eggs. While I was loading it, he grabbed one of the eggs off the tray and ate it, I had just gone into the kitchen to grab a kitchen towel and he was on the sofa eating.
