Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

Not exactly a chicken wonderland here...

Deb, I was gonna volunteer to help, but I guess you don't need it now.

ETA: I'm sick, I hate being sick. Darn kids share everything EXCEPT their toys. (with each other, they'll share anything with anyone else, but not each other)

Hi! Candled what's left of the 32 chicken eggs set the 11th and am down to 17 eggs --- 10 white Silkies, 3 blue/splash silkie feathered green-eggers, 1 blue/splash Naked Neck Frizzle green-egger, 2 blue/black melanotics (1 single comb and 1 pea comb green-egger),
amd 1 black Ameraucana.
Of the 20 duck eggs set the 11th, 10 are still growing (6 blue Swedish, 2 crested Pekin, 2 Ancona).
Candled the eggs set the 18th and got 25 (chicken and duck) eggs developing.
Got duck eggs (set the 30th) pipping this morning.
The ducks should be finished and I can clean that hatcher and move the eggs set the 11th to it.
Got 6 doz (chicken and duck) eggs that *need* to be set today --- but they *could* wait til Wed.

*yawn, stretch, sip coffee*

The rooster crowing contest started 12/26, but I accepted early submissions. I have to go back through these pages because I think I missed the actual, earliest entry.

I will solicit volunteer judges who are not participating, a little later. I hate mornings. Need more coffee before I can function.

My third ex-husband was a morning person. Such that he woke up all cheery. I think even his toes were happy at that hour. Like a great big Lab puppy, he was. Galumph, bound, twirl, wet sloppy kisses, all that obnoxious behavior. Wanna play? Wanna play? I felt like throwing a ball over the back fence, into traffic.

Wonder why I ever thought that marriage would work.....

Come to think of it, why do I like chickens so much? They are definitely morning creatures. Oh, yah, right, like me, they just want breffus and don't demand conversation or anything.
