I have 22 chicks out and in the brooder, and one more pipped. BUT I have about 18 more (mostly shipped = expensive eggs) just sitting there! I took 3 different eggs out and 'pipped' them myself. No movement or sound. Opened them up - all fully developed, yolk sacs almost absorbed. They seemed very wet - did they dround in the shell? Due mostly to hatching chicks the humidity has been up in the mid-eightys. Too high? Or did I just kill them by messing with them too early? Please help!
I had one hatch early. Now nothing. No pips nothing. I think one side of the incubator was running really cold and when I candled on day 14 I took out a bunch but there was one that I saw movement in, however it was way smaller and further behind than everyone else. So maybe I will win on the last to hatch from this batch. 17 eggs made it to lockdown. 1 hatched and I am guessing the rest are going to drive me nuts for the next week. I have made the mistake of thinking that everything was done before and opened one, albeit carefully and ended up killing the poor thing. I will leave the darned things in for another month if there is any chance they are still good. Is it possible for something to develop a week later than everything else?
