Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

I have a question about the die hard contest, last chick hatched. I had to set mine at 12:30 pm my time, does that exclude me from the contest? The way my eggs are going thats probably the only one I am in the running for.

Here is my entry for cutest new chick- This is Chris Duck Hatched a few days ago and my new Ameraucana babies hatched last night.
Snuggle Time!

How long do we have to enter? I want to see what I end up with to pick the cutest one out.

I don't know when this one will be over. It will be open for a while though .... waiting for chicks to hatch. Have to ask Mahonri when the deadline will be.

I thought I wrote in Post#1 that deadline was end of day on the 4th or 5th... now I've got to go look it up again. I'm still half asleep.. had a great NAP after DW gave me a haircut.

As much as I think that ChooksChicks prize is wonderful (and it is an extremely thoughtful prize) I think that I may no longer be able to collect it because (DRUM ROLL PLEASE!)

Actually I have two. DH was the one to find the first one. He said come over here one of your chicks is trying to come out. I looked at him and told him not to "F" with me

He said no come over here and see. Sure enough there it was. He kept saying he was hearing things in the dining room off and on all day. I never heard a thing so we just figured it might have been one of the dogs moving around. While we were talking about what he had heard earlier I swear I heard the sound of one tap on the plastic cover on the bator. I went in and found the second pip. Much larger than the first one. Guess I won't be candling tonight. I will be waiting for them to hatch. Guess I will be up a long time instead of going to bed early like I did last night. Wolftracks I really think my bator was running cooler than I thought it was and up until about half an hour ago I thought they were all goners. I never saw and egg rock, never heard a peep and never saw movement when I candled. Give them time. They may just be running late. Lots of

ETA - both eggs that pipped are from my Ameraucanas so I might just get to see those real puffy cheeks after all!

Ok so I have a chick hatched but it is still attached to his egg by the little cord thingy. What do I need to do? Should I cut it? Detach it somehow? What do I do?

I had to help out one of my big white eggs. It had pipped this morning but couldn't zip the whole top off so I helped get the top off and then upped the humidity. Have another one trying to get out and 2 more pips. So, they are trying, just running slow.
