and since I am such a newbie...why am I not opening the incubator? Is it so I don't mess the humidity up, or the heat or is it just so I don't start picking the eggs open with my fingernails as I wait with bated breath? This is my first hatch (with an incubator).

OMG my neighbors have had a TV in the back of their driveway since begining of summer. I was going to ask them about it and the stand they have, thinking I could make a small coop with the stand.

I used to have an old TV that I turned into a bird cage years ago. This is better. I can hear hubby now saying "I'm gone, but I see where this is going!"

I was trying to figure out how to turn that TV into a hatcher. Now I know. hehe

OK, well I see it, but figuring it out might be another subject.

Im up to 10 Marans eggs for the Great Hatch. Ive been collecting for a week already, so some may be old, but thats okay. Im not sure who is laying, I think a blue is for sure, and maybe one of the wheaten girls. Can't wait to get this show on the road!

I have been saved. The person that I bought my last bantam cochin eggs off of ebay from is going to sell me a variety pack to ship tomorrow. So hopefully they will all make it safely. This is my updated list of what I will be attempting to hatch:

White crested black or blue polish 5 eggs - fertility is spotty on these- show lines
Blue laced red wyandotte [st]Jerry Foley birds 1 egg
salmon favorelle 4 eggs show lines
dominique [st] 2 eggs
white silkies 2 eggs
blue black splash silkies 8 eggs
gold laced cochin 1 egg
mille fleur d'uccle 7 eggs
buff cochins 2 eggs
red cochin 2 eggs
houdan 2 eggs

Obviously this won't count as they hatch later
bourbon red turkey- 2 eggs- out of season but may be fertile

I have been saved too....and I think finally and completely lost my mind

I said I never would but I bought an incubator today - early Christmas gift for myself

Now to figure out how to get it working properly in the next couple days.....
