Almost to shawnee. to the incbator question, don't worry about humidity until you get it vented. too high humidity early in hatch leaves too much water in egg and chick can drown.

I will have about 60 eggs in, some are getting pretty old, but going to try them anyway.

I got one shipment of eggs via usps last night. Fully one third broken and oozing goo all over the others. I almost cried. Oh heavens, I really did cry. And I was angry. They were poorly packaged. Paper stuffed in, each egg in one layer of bubble wrap set in, and paper in the other end before he sealed it closed.
Question: Am I supposed to do more than wipe the gooey yolk off the remaining eggs? And will their having gotten wet affect them?
I have one more shipment due today. Please let them be intact...please, please, please.

I wouldn't wait too long because dried egg is tough to remove , you might do a search on here for cleaning hatching eggs

I think they will be okay, just clean them up as best as you can without too much rubbing. Maybe just take a damp paper towel. Hopefully the rest will be fine.

Me too! Totally in it for the fun! I was asking mainly in case those competitive ones out there had the same question. I get confused with time zones, since I have lived in one spot my whole life.

I was just thinking the people on the East Coast are going to have New Years Babies before us land locked folks.

I will just be happy if I make it to Midnight without falling asleep.

This definately isn't the time to be shipping eggs or anything else. So sorry you guys are having such a frustrating experience. I hope I don't seem callous showing off my eggs, but I really have to get to work and I wanted to do it before I left, so here goes......

I haven't gone through all the posts yet, but I don't think anyone has posted pics of the eggs destined for the New Year's hatch yet, so....let's begin! I flipped them for the picture so my scribble wouldn't be all over the tops and managed in the process of doing that to break one that was laid just this morning. Frustrating, but kiddo ate it up scrambled for breakfast so I guess it wasn't a total waste.

Here's the eggs from my lavender ameraucana project, hoping to get a few more in the morning if the girls are generous.
