Ok, my eggs came today and as Kelly said, we met up to split the loot.
Here's what I kept and Kelly has roughly the same thing. Please ignore the gnarly Icelandic eggs in the middle with candle wax on them. Judge Judy decided a couple of months ago that we are no longer allowed to have bedding in the nest boxes. She removes it as fast as I put it in. Hence, I have gotten a few cracked and broken eggs that I couldn't ship. I took the intact ones and repaired them with wax. I am going to put them in the incubator and hope for the best.
Anyway, I ordered my eggs from Lynne (wmmicasa1) and she generously sent extras so I was able to share with Kelly. We got 8 of her Mille Fleur Cochin eggs and we each are hatching four. If you haven't seen these birds, they are gorgeous.
Lynne is also working on a couple of other projects with black and buff barred cochins. They eggs we got are Black Barred split to Buff Barred and Buff Barred split to Black Barred, all bantam cochins. I am really excited about seeing what we get from these eggs. I am bravely trying to keep a bantam breed again since my run is completely covered.
Anyway, we now know what we are hatching and it is no longer a secret! I am anxiously awaiting the stroke of noon! I suppose I should sanitize the incubator, right? The fact that I have left it until now may send Mahonri over the edge!
Good luck to everyone.
Mary
