Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

Unless of course it is shopping for chickens.

Today is day 3, you will not see much of anything unless you have a really good flashlight. Wait till day 10 and candle, then it is obvious what is growing and what isn't.

Y'all have way too much time on your hands!

Wolftracks, don't fret about that temp spike. When I had an LG (briefly) hubby used to turn the knob and expect to see the temp change immediately. Then he'd walk away. I'd find it later way too high or way too low and have to try to adjust it. We still got chicks from those hatches.

I am proud to report that last night was night #3 for my 18 Icelandic juvies to be allowed in the bottom run portion of their coop during the day. They ALL made it up the ramp at bedtime by themselves!

On a promising note, I observed Isi on a date with Lukka as well as one of the little roos attempting a one-night-stand with blind Lucy. Some of your Icelandic eggs may be fertile after all Mahonri!

I am just killing time waiting for a call to go to the hospital and take my Mom home.

I never worry about it best thing I ever bought is an incubator that cannot be adjusted it's preset and to take it apart is to break it maybe Chinese hatchers are just as bad for tweaking with incubators too..

...just make sure it has a little water in it and it has power

and leave.

I have a marvelous Turn X and bought a brand new thermometer and hydro thingy hooked up the wick and when you fill that puppy up I can't read it

so I put a Wally World one in there but it rolls around I know it's good I have had many hatches but when I take the eggs out to candle I do not think the thermometer is close to right it always says 86..... and that's not the one with the wick hooked to it either so it comes to knowing your equipment and I do check mine with "the good one" I guess I might need to buy a spot check so far though I hatch enough chickens and turkeys to keep my pens full

wolftrakcs,I had a spile of 109 another 106 last hatch and had the best percentage I have ever had.
I do not know how long they weres that temp. Found it in the morning.
Sending you good thoughts for a great hatch....

My Hova Bator has a wafer thermostat in it to regulate temp. It prevents the temp spikes like a charm. The idea of a pre set incubator is pretty interesting.
