Glad your egg turner is still working. I think you were just looking for something to worry about.

Too bad the egg was too late for this event , but from what I've read , you have no need of an excuse to throw eggs in the 'bator

.
Those are great looking birds , and its refreshing to know that their breeder bred for production traits and not just the show looks .

At the " its always about me " level :
My small friend made the 50' crawl back to where the water came in , put on the heat tape , and refused to take anything other than an 18 pack of fresh eggs . Said he would keep the source a secret from his wife , otherwise she would constantly be pestering me to buy eggs and have the other neighbors coming too . I told him my pullets seem to still be picking up production , so customers are welcome [ and he will be getting them free for quite awhile ] .

I wouldn't be surprised if Mahonri has some broody hens stashed about helping him get his numbers.
Ok, so is it too late to reguess his hatch rate?

I just have to share this photo taken the night before last. I have one 'bator hatching now, and three chicks are out. But this was the first one, a little Porcelain D'Uccles.

I know it's off topic, but I wanted to stir up the "Awwwww!" in us. Especially whilst folks are discovering bad/dud eggs in this Hatch and maybe feeling extra sad.

So here is my question: Who here is keeping what they hatch...or more to the point, who here is NOT KEEPING all of what they hatch? What are all of you doing with your new babies when they arrive? Just curious since perhaps I might be looking for certain chicks that are local(ish) that I could buy.
So tell me what your plans are for your chicks?
