The skin was black ( a dark dull gray) and the bones were black - but not throughout. More like black marks on the outside of the bones. And the connective tissue was all black. The heart and liver were a dark grayish black all the way through.
He tasted just like any other chicken (homegrown) I have had. He was a tiny bit tough - but he was almost a year and a half old.
I am truly sorry to see him go. He was a lovely rooster. But recently every single hen I have is either setting on eggs or has tiny babies. He has no lady to court and his personality seems to have suffered. He was constantly chasing after all the new mommies and crow??? He crowed like there was no tomorrow! Poor dear. Now I have to find a new rooster.
And my incubator I was so set on winning! I had the crowingest rooster in town and now I have no picture to submit. How Murphy's Law is that?
