Mahonri's 2nd Annual NYDHatch, watching them grow...

I'll be out of the house in a few hours getting my fillings from the dentist who keeps getting a broken drill when I get there. grrrrrrr. Definitely getting a new dentist when this is done. No wonder he didn't try to upsell me on things - that's why he doesn't have any money to keep his equipment working. I half expect him to use a bicycle to get the drill working.. Anyways, that's when my eggs will start pipping!!!

Funny because I can picture a dental assistant on a stationary bike in the corner peddling away like crazy to keep the drill working. Good luck with the fillings today.

I figure the dogs will know before me if the chicks start peeping. When they follow me in to where the bator is I look at them to see if they are reacting.

I am really not too worried yet just nervous. Thank you for the good wishes and congrats on the babies you have out so far!

Thanks!

Isn't it interesting how that works with the animals, if you are fimilar with Irish Setters.... this drives them nuts... the one in the same area will sit and watch and just shake.

We are at 1 hatched and 10 pipped out of the 14 eggs that made it to lock down... at this rate I can be alseep be midnight tonight!

Tried to convince my illegal roo to crow yesterday - my neighbors will love me.. As you can see, he ignored me.

I know he's a hatchery quality cochin mutt but I like him so far. I'll try again today but of course I'd prefer if he never crows. He did once.. kinda. He went COCKA DOOO.

I am not real familliar with Irish Setters although my aunt had one once. She was such a happy go lucky dog. Used to knock everything off the coffee table and any other shelf within tail range since she was wagging it all the time. Her name was Rosie and she was a great dog.

One of my shelties reacts to higher pitched noises so I figure he will be the one to let me know if something is going on. On the good side, if mine are slow getting started, maybe I will have the one closest hatched right after midnight. Now all I have to do is stay up that late. I don't think I have seen midnight on New Year's Eve for decades!

Well ... it's quite easy really. I came home from work one day and the eggs on the counter had jumped into the incubator.
And then a week later a GLW went broody.

I thought these chicks were supposed to sleep once they got out? This turken baby is zooming around my incubator.
