All I said to DH a few months ago was that I loved the color of emu eggs

SAFEWAY and some of the big chains sell fertile eggs!

Some BYCers hatched some of those a while back along with the TJs eggs.

Yes my tree is still up. It should have came down already -usually it is put up around 15th and is taken down the 26th. Thought I would leave it up until Jan 1st this year since I put it up day after Thanksgiving - but I have been busy with hatching!

That's what I was going to do, with 3 or 4 of them

Yeah Bill pretty much let me get away with anything, but one day I bought GD a goat at the auction. Had just told someone I didn't know how I was to explain that to my husband and when I turned to walk away he was standing there with a really upst look on his face.

I got

"KIM, tell me you didn't!"

I just did the one. Afraid all of them would not have been able to balance well.
I may snap some more tomorrow when I take the tree down.....I tried to take a pic of one with my jingle bell wreath but it would not hold still

I LOVE that sound! I go RUNNING to see which chicken is being brutalized and it is only a junior crower, trying to squawk one out! I love hearing it refine, day by day. Lots of practice!

I have admitted failure on the New Year's Hatch, but I refuse to give up on the concept of hatching, I have 10 eggs locked down for Wednesday, January 5th and I just set 85 more in the TVbator, which, BTW is now holding a perfect 99.6 and 45% humidity! The solution was two 8' x16" pavers to hold heat (and some humidity) and diffuse the hot air flow. That and a few jugs of water and it now recovers from an open-to-turn in less than a minute!

I just set 14 LF black Cochin, 17 BBS Phoenix, 13 Silkie/ serama mix, 16 Golden Phoenix & assrt'd ( some have hairline cracks and ALL have egg-smears, but I still hope) 15 Lavender Ameraucana/ Silkie mix and 6 of my own E.E.s.

When the hatching finally starts, I may be quickly overrun with cute little roosters learning to crow!
