Sorry for your loss and we're the same, that would devastate us to see so many deceased babies...We've had terrible luck with 2 shipped batches of just eggs and have committed to never using the mail again, too many factors outside of the seller/buyer's control for my comfort anymore, we're just not going to go thru what we went thru last time again...Good luck with Ideal and I hope you can find some peeps closer to you in this forum like we have!...We had no idea we were surrounded by chick lovers!

Hi,
So sorry for your lose.

I live in tampa and my post office couldn't be better about delivering my chicks. When I first called them to fine out what the proceedure was they where very kind and told me that they would call me first and make a special trip to my house that morning. They said that they don't deliver them with the normal mall. Because they wouldn't survive the hot trip in the truck for so many hours.
They couldn't be more helpful and reasured me with my concerns.
They are all fine now. I did order my babies from www.mypetchickens.com and you can order as few as 3 chicks.

Do report this to Ideal and most certainly to you local, state and national postal service if you can. I assure you that heads will roll. Just have to get intouce with the right person.

i recieved my 12 jersey giant chicks this morning from ideal...i live in ky...all were alive and well brought them to work withme and put under heat lamp i also gave them sugar water and feed...they seem to be doing great call ideal i really think they will replace your chicks, but yeah i would have been devasted also...

I had the same thing happen with my very first order from Murray McMurray. The weather was colder, and they replaced them. They were silkies. I had to order one more time to replace them but still lost at least half of those over a few days. I too felt guilty and gave up and did not order anymore. They refunded my money. I just recently, as of today, got an order from Cackle. All 25 chicks arrived safely, even after being in a box for two days. I have not ordered from Ideal but a friend has. She did not have any problems. I feel the warmer weather is better to order in. Maybe you can pay a bit more and get them shipped in 1 day. Like the others have said, you should be picking them up. The post office should not be delivering them. They called me today at 7:00 AM. I jumped up and went to pick them up. I would definitely call the post office and tell them they are coming and to not open the box. I have had that happen. They should not be opening them up. That is your mail, and it is not good for the chicks either. Good luck on the next shipment. Don't give up!!!
