SCNA " Reluctance to turn it over to a governing body!!!" the good breeders leave and the puppets stay!
lol.png

Thanks so much Julie you just answered my question.. Thanks again

I personally take offense to that DiVon!! I just joined this group and knew nothing about what ever squabbles they have had within the governing policies (and frankly DONT CARE!!) I joined to learn not to be 'a groupy, or hold status, or be classified as a PUPPET'. There ARE some very INTELLIGENT people there and alot can be learned from those people!!! It's sad that those stated people left the group because of a tiff (no matter how big or small) They might of been a wonderful asset!! They dropped the ball so as far as governing ANYTHING they would be worthless to follow up on what needs to be done!! JMHO
As far as Bluegrass, I don't give a rip who started the frizzle or who brought it back into the gene pool Bluegrass has done extensive work with their birds and done a wonderful job, might I add!!! Again it sounds like the other people dropped the ball or they would of been the ones last yr to introduce the frizzled Serama at the shows. I'd consider it an honor to own birds from Bluegrass and am sure there are others out there that feel the same!!!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be a hard a** but good grief it just irritates me that ppl will throw a tantrum and whine to buddies all over the net, and then other people get blacklisted for having anything to do with 'said group or person' , for something that they had nothing to do with. Sounds like a bunch of lil' kids fighting over a candybar!!

Ok, I'll step off my soapbox and go set in my corner as I'm sure I'll be 'blacklisted' lol because of this rant!!

I was not knocking anyones birds just commented on a statement made by High Rooat Ranch.

Neat!
I haven't really noticed that before, but Ill be looking!
Although I love all mine and have favorites, not many are handled or cuddled as much for me to notice (and I always fall for the hens anyways.) The pic of the roo sleeping all cuddled up was toooo cute! Might have to fall for a roo soon!

We'll have to bring DaVinci if we ever get to meet up with you!! He's a hoot!! He LOVES to be held and it has to be Ellen for a while and then I'm supposed to hold him!! Go to put him up and he cries all the way to the cage. Then he'll stand at the door and pout at us, if we leave the room he crows and when we come back he crows

I have been jaded since I lost my little Telula, who followed me everywhere, and since then, I have not had a personal pet. (RIP Telula!

) I'm so very sorry

always keep in mind tho' if you close your heart because of one love you might be passing up the opportunity to feel a whole new love with new and different good things to experience
wink.png
Don't get me wrong, I totally understand the depth of love that is carried between owner and animal and have sat with my horse's head in my lap and cried as she took her last breath (still hurts and cry everytime I talk about my Sally Ride) But each of our animals are different in so many ways and some are onery some are sweet and some we just can't help but let into our heart (some would weasel their way in anyway lol) I guess what I'm saying is it hurts to loose someone/thing that we love but hurts worse to go for yrs w/o the joys of any love that you used to experience. And, we all know that an animal loves unconditionally!!

I love

BYC for the same reasons I love the SCNA...and even my other chicken groups-------- there is lots to learn from people all over the world, and its a great place to meet like-minded people and share your enthusiasm for your birds. (Oh! And share pics too!
woot.gif
)

If anyone is a puppet for wanting to be in a group of like minded people--so be it. I dont care. I'm in every serama group I can find! I dont care who is who and I don't care about politics much either. There are more interesting things to spend my time on.

I'm here to learn and have fun. (Thank you so so so much for the compliments TsaLaGi and Friedeggs--I do work hard with our line to produce better. I dont think Im the best by any means, but I would rather do it on my own than to just buy birds..and even though my birds are not the best in the world, I'm really proud of each generation! )
Perfection is in the eye of the beholder, always remember everyone has their opinion not all smell like roses. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that we have a 'standard' of perfection for others to see as a guide (kinda like the bible) but.... even the birds that fit the standard of perfection are sometimes culled because of many 'human' reasons... not the color (knock it in the head) not the size (knock it in the head) I do understand culling but if ppl are culling for 'personal perfection' then give them babies to someone who can love them and give them a quality life, don't kill them!! Am I ranting again?? I'm ranting again lol But, you know what I mean? Bluegrass, I'm sure you've heard of ppl doing that, don't it just make ya cringe... makes me sooooo mad!!

I know my DH would probably rather drill a hole through his hand--- rather than be forced to feign anymore interest in me talking about birds or what I have learned in a chicken book. I think I'm lucky to be able to be online and talk to so many different people, and find out about different meets or shows, which is like this-- but in person! Even better, I think! I feel that being here in the age of the internet is a blessing!
Bless his heart I'm sure Ellen know's exactly how he feels lol I drive her nuts between chickens, goats, horses and been reading up on Zebu ... I love the net and having quality intelligent people to talk to and help if I can or be helped if needed!! I've learned so very much from these people here!!! And thank each and every one of them!!

OMG! LOL Or if you poured water on them like in Gremlins!

Ellen said for you not to feed after midnight!!! lol

chickenlady, you should get a good variety of answers to this, there are some who feed gamebird, some feed super expensive and some super cheap, shoot there are some who feed what they can and love their birds no less than the ones who fork over the big bucks. Imo, it's what you have available to suit you and your birds best.
Between our goats and horse and birds we stay about penniless lol

We do feed a good quality gamebird feed tho' and they everyone caged gets our own free range eggs boiled and mashed for treats at least 3 times a week. I'm just glad that we have good layers so that we can treat our other birds in this manner.

Do you have Seramas?? Would love to see pic's of them and hear about them!!
