Mama's Flying Penguins and Ramblings

Some morning fun pics... put some dry "landings" for the hens w/ a water bowl and letting them forage. I close the door so babies can't get lost the hens don't mind and i let them back in during heat of the day.

Brahmas stick together! They're trying to help Toasted. The two darkish buffs just lay in my arm after making a bit of a fuss. Lap chickens are real...

Poo on toast! :lau... that’s hysterical! Poor thing!
I tell you.. these chickens!!:rant and their antics! I don’t always have the patience for... my BO has gone broody:barnie.. and when I take her off the nest and put her down the bully Wyandotte feels the need to attack!!! .... she has turned me off for anymore Wyandottes.. that’s for sure :tongue... I just learned that they really only like other Wyandottes... raciest! :smack

My buff orp hen is a jerk! She must have the nest first, the best roost area, and anyone in her way beware! Told her today that if she stops laying she's dinner! My sussex hen is sassy but sweet for the mist part. They're antics sometimes annoy me but sold first dozen and have two more ordered! So as long as they lay they're safe......ish :tongue I'm enjoying the babies though and can't wait for the two months olds to be out running around too! :wee:love

Yes, I cannot wait to integrate!! But I dread the process

So today's fun... I took some of my month old chill  littles out for a stroll around yard. Hens are foraging and decided it was too nice a day to waste! caught some chicks and held them securely but gently while we walked around the penned area where the hens were. They enjoyed it! Mol`e, Sandi, Charred, and Lime (my little Roo) got to go out for a stroll. Also I'm making notes in my journal about who is going to make good Mamas... so far Mo, Sandi, and Glazed are going to be awesome!

My 2 month old pullets are getting cranky and stir crazing in their brooder. Also doesn't help that the older hens poop on them constantly. :sick :he

:( Soooo.... I had gotten a stall ready for a bachelor pad... but today I got the idea to turn that into a second flock area! I'd take the dog house out, put the brooder in there, then they have a safe area to bed down at night. I'm thinking about using leftover roofing tin to cover up the open area above the doorway, and than poultry netting to cover the open area between there and the next stall to help keep things from jumping in.

What do y'all think? or would two flocks fight when i let them out to free range?

Tonight the babies are inside still, and thinking Pepper might have something else going on with her, she's very wobbly :(:hit

But i got to spend time with the other chicks, including my new lap chick.... :gig
IMG_3340.jpg She's greedy for those chest scratches! she'll sit on my foot or pull on my pant leg till i put my hand down for her to get them. :lau I love it! It's actually helping to show the other chicks i'm ok. One of the the buuf orp babies now wants chest scratches too! :love

It's a warm day in Texas, when i first opened the door i was greeted by this IMG_3368.jpg flopped over babies... i tell ya they scare me sometimes LOL!!:th

Some more photos of the littles...

"can i come in to the out now?" :gig

I need to find either a prefab coop with run and set it up inside current run or need to try integration again for the 2 month olds... they are hating the brooder now.
Look at my pretty girl's face....

she's still hand shy... but when i let her and the others out she wags her tail fathers and comes says hi. :D :love:hugs

All my girls are running around in the coop TOGETHER!!!!!

This morning I let the hens out and the 2 month olds were going stir crazy so i let them out and sat in the coop to see how it went. Only a couple pecks to let the babies know to move but otherwise everyone was happy!!! Then the hens wanted to come in to lay and i didn't want to shut the girls in again, so i let it go, Mustard is a jerk. Cajun came in and laid, and then go up and roosted beside BBQ on the brooder ledge :celebrate:clap Mustard is still being a jerk but she laid.

The mystery is that I know Cajun laid but when we went to get it it had disappeared. :idunno:confused: We got the other one, son tripped though and it is a sad day in that area, but otherwise i'm excited!!! I'm going out to check on them every so often.
