Hi

It's pronounced bur chin

Bev

Thank you too Bev! I am trying to learn all I can about them. I think they are beautiful and can't wait to get my hands on some. I think having both ends of the spectrum would be AWESOME! Copper and Birchen birds running around my backyard would be over the top!

Hi Pink

They are beautiful birds to be sure, I think I like the blue birchens best but I like all the blues.

They are very striking in my opinion. As much as I love the Copper Blues...I think I may love these just as much. That silver on the blue is what puts me over the edge for them.

Rough morning...got to chores a bit later than usual only to see that something had gotten two of my favorite cockerels -a black and a splash. Whatever it was did some good damage..so got some sorting to do to figure out how I'm gonna work on my solid blue breeding program as those were the two I kept back for breeding Guess I'm gonna have to wait for some of the chicks I did get out of them to grow...or for some good prospects from the shipped eggs I received. I'm so upset

Needless to say...i battoned down the hatches and moved a few birds just to be sure they'll be safe.

Hi

So sorry to hear that, we all know what it feel like to lose something we are working on. The best of luck with your chicks.

After you grieve a while you would be wise to go back out, do some detective work, and find out what happened. Chances are good that if you don't do something about it, it will happen again. I learned this the hard way after I lost my entire flock of Royal Palm Turkeys last year.

I too, am sorry to hear of your loss....I was really bummed to lose all my turkeys after all I had put into them.

That's one thing I love about my new coop/yard....I'm confident that it is 100% critter proof from all sides/top.

Thanks everyone...
I'm trying to stay focused and keep moving forward and not let it derail me completely. I'm happy I still have my other color varieties and my projects to work on. Sigh...

Bev, I did have a question for you. I had heard you were working on some blue silver salmons. I was wondering if you had a picture or a short description of what the hens should look like? So far the only blue silver salmon (or blue silver duckwing) photo I could find was of an Old English Game cockerel. I would love to see a hen though. I'm in love with all the varieties of the blues!
