I hope Debbie is just busy and everything is okay.

Well, the chickens found all my good blackberries (the shrubs I bought from the store) and gobbled up all the nice big berries last week before I could pick them. The wild ones: they just are getting the ones around the perimeter of the property and not out into the woods. I guess I should go picking them before the wild birds get them all. One of my SS hens got left out last night (she was hiding) dh saw her early this morning and she ran away from him and he was too tired to chase her because he worked last night lol. I went out there and she was no where to be found, so now I have to go looking for her. I hope she just has a nest somewhere....bad girl !!

Hi guys, I'm alive and well! The last day if storms, Friday, was a spooky one. Two funnel clouds passed over me, and one touched down 8 miles to the east of me. Lots of wind, rain, and hail. I hate it! Yesterday we finally had sun...and heat. Today is going to be a scorcher! Grass is getting mowed today whether it's wet or not! Lost one of my pullets the other day. Oh sure, couldn't be Pip or deformed little Bump...NOoooo had to be a pullet!

She was a lone wolf, never would stay with the flock, and I figured she would meet her demise some day. Just disappeared into the woods, and that's the last I saw of her. I can hope she wanted to set up house somewhere, but I think I would be deluding myself. Then, the two brothers went to war! We are talking blood and guts war, so now they have to be seperated. I think all this rain soaked their little brains. Blue Butt is still limping, so yesterday I set up for bumble surgery. When I got him into the pillow case, (yes!, it works well when you're by yourself!), I inspected the foot, but found nothing. I'm thinking now I was right the first time, and he injured his hock (knee?) in jumping off the roost. Today he seems to be walking a tad better, even chased down a pullet and did the deed! Can't be feeling too awful bad if he can manage that!

Anyway, thanks for your concerns, I'm still ok!

If it ever dries out again, I'll have to re-till and re-plant... I can relate to the bad girl, but I think mine is more like a dead girl.

Yeah!! ((HUGS)) glad every thing is okay with you- that you are safe!! So sorry about your garden though, I hope you have time to replant.

Hi Geebs!!

Yes, isn't that always the way?? It's always one of the good ones that gets lost. What makes me sadder though is the deal with Roy & Clyde. They were so close, and went everywhere together, and now this. Now I have to take turns letting one run with the girls outside, the other has to remain in the run. Then at bedtime, I take turns housing one in the little pen inside the coop. Pain in the arse for sure! But sure don't need them killing each other! Man, they really got into it, and both were bloodied pretty good. Thankfully I had a rake handy, and pryed them apart, and ushered one into the run. Hadn't picked up either of these boys since they were about 4 months old. Holy cow! They are both like picking up bowling balls!! Glad to know they weigh as heavy as they look! I need to get a scale and weigh them.
