Still have to get a photo of the Black Copper male that I have so you and Don can check out his comb. He is a lovely bird...colors are glorious...wish he didn't have that dumb little extra point in the center of his comb.

I have a splash and her legs are blue.... Your roo does not have blue legs

Are they OK to have either color of legs ?

I personally love the blue legs and it is what I breed for. I do not keep or breed birds with the white/pinkish colored legs, don't know why....just don't care for them. Give me the blue...the blue, the blue, the blue, I say!

But like Geebs said...it's acceptable to have both.

Nice pick! Splash Coppers and Blue Coppers are my favorites! Nothing like seeing a flock of blues and splash playing in the backyard.

Do you know anyone that breeds that color? I am looking for some hatching eggs in September or early October. Thanks.

Regarding the Splash Color description:

This is what the APA is using for Modern Game Bantams and I would expect the Marans...or any other breed to have the same description with the exception of the eye color.
This is just for reference until there is an official Marans Splash description. I can't imagine it being different though.....except for the eye color.

There are a few of us out there that breed this color but there are not tons of Splash breeders out there. Splash Marans are not as sought after as the BCM or perhaps some of the other color varieties of Marans. I would offer some eggs, but I cannot at this time as I am trying to weed out a comb issue in my flock, but I am sure that someone else here from the Marans thread would be happy to help you out if they have any eggs available and you also could try the Marans breeders clubs like Marans of America Club and the Marans Chicken Club USA for folks who breed Splash birds.

Kim, from the way you describe the comb on this male I believe you just have an uneven serration of the comb. It it is just a smaller point mixed in with the regular point it would only be a fault and is seen quite a bit in Large fowl and bantams. It would be something you would want to breed out though. Lot of times it shows up more in the female, and we should check the female comb better. Why not do a couple of single matings with this male over hens with good comb and see what you get.
