had an internet hiccup....garg. Aren't chickens way better entertainment than anything on TV? glad he showed them who was boss!

So, gonna start over with hatching eggs or do ya have someone not too far from you that you can get stock from?

Oh hell no! I live in Podunk, USA.

There was a neighbor right up the way that had some I never got to see. I talked to her mom the other day, a neighbor but not a close personal friend mind you, and she said her daughter got rid of all of hers. Evidently she didn't have any luck either, and now I will never know what she had..

So, it's looking like a brand new start here, cept for the dark boys. Wynette, you still owe me a dozen, so maybe I can start there?? In the long run, I want Blue Coppers, but at this point, I will be looking at anything without DQs, and of a nice, chunky type!

chunky is the best to have! I hope you are able to find some good ones out there. I'm realizing I've somehow lucked out with not having to deal with some of the things people have talked about on here....but then again...I am working with the birchens....and they are a giant mess all in themselves. If I had massive problems in all my other colors too I don't think I'd be able to keep going. I still have plenty of work to do in all the colors...but I really am hoping this next year will be a good one for moving forward.

Yes, chunky is way good! I was looking down on the free range boys this evening, and Clyde was twice the width of anything out there. His brother, Roy, is still wider than Clyde! They may be dark and have other faults, but they both have the bodies I want!! I used to think the big birds came from Davis, but these are Jeane/Presley boys. The Davis/Jeane cross hens I have are small...go figure. Anyone here ever dealt with Culpepper??

that's strange....I was just looking at his site tonight. how bizaare is that?! Build that barn Debbi! then work on the fine tuning after you get that size and shape you want going. If Gigantor proves himself in the test mating phase this next spring, there might be the possibility of eggs for you as well.

Oh...and I am thinking pretty seriously about going to sedalia....when is it again? I'm gonna go ahead and ask for the time off and if it works out, I'll be thrilled...If I do end up being able to go...I'll be the redhead with the giant blue eyes and lots of wood and metal earrings hahah

I believe the show is Oct. 22?? Ivywoods was going, don't know if I'll be up to it, been down in the back, hips, knees, and brain lately, but I still have some hope.

I'd be the old red headed broad with the cane...and attitude! Not really, I'm just shy in real life, but folks say I have a 'tude. I am, what I am, and always have been and will be.

hahaha Red heads have to stick together! I hope you'll be able to make it....I'd love to meet some of the BYC folks from around here! I'm also secretly hoping to score a BLR Wyandotte cockerel of decent type and color. I've got a lovely lovely girl with no man

I'll make a note of it for my boss to get that weekend off.

I think I'll have to talk long and hard to him on the phone, or anyone else for that matter, that wants 100 bucks/dozen eggs first! For that price, there had better be some kind of guarantee of comb/type/color quality, you'd think?? Or at least, I'd think!

haha....indeed....ive seen huge price ranges and a couple i paid a bit more for didn't give as good of results as some that were less...luck of the draw i think...but research is definitely the way to go

one has a small hole on the side and the other one I think is underneath so it is hard to see that one. Maybe when I get home this afternoon from work we will have chicks out!
